By opening your space and flooding the indoors with natural daylight, sliding patio doors help to create larger spaces for socialising. This also makes it easier to move between rooms, making it more comfortable for you and your guests.

One of the biggest advantages of aluminium sliding doors is that they maximise natural daylight. By bringing more natural light in, you can create a brighter, more cheerful environment which is perfect for those who work from home or spend a lot of time indoors. Natural lighting can also help to reduce your energy bills by reducing your reliance on artificial lighting. And these days every penny counts!

How Do The Aluminium Sliding Patio Doors Compare?

The main difference between inline and lift and slide aluminium patio doors is the way they open and close. Inline patio doors slide along a track in a single direction. Aluminium lift and slide patio doors, on the other hand, lift up onto rollers before sliding along the track, reducing friction and making it easier to slide. For individuals with limited strength or mobility, such as the elderly and young children this feature will prove to be a godsend!

The lift and slide upgrade cleverly enables you to lock the sliding door in any position on the rollers to obtain the optimum amount of air flow, while the ‘standard’ door set only locks in the end position against the outer frame.

The Sliding Patio Door System Designed For Large Spaces

You can widen your horizon with House of Windows aluminium sliding patio doors, it’s designed with large opening sizes in mind accommodating up to 2.5m x 2.7m per sash, with super slim interlock of just 25mm for maximum vision, excellent thermal performance of just 1.4 U W/m2K, noise reduction, high security and weather-proofing.

For doors that do not occupy the inner space or to integrate rooms such as a kitchen and conservatory or the main house and garden terrace, soft-close technology is a ‘Godsend’. This type of sliding system gently assists your door into its final resting position, which reduces the physical impact and possible damage of slamming doors, as well as reducing noise. Bliss!

Narrow Profiles Mean More Glass and Less Frame!

House of Windows hybrid aluminium patio door system gives almost unobstructed views with the use of narrow profiles, with the options of double and triple track and either double (1.4 U Value) or triple glazed (1.0 U Value). A wide variety of configurations are achievable, including a fixed sash and up to 4 panes, as either sliding or lift and slide doors.

Super Slim Interlocks

Made out of robust aluminium, the 25mm interlock can be used with the inline slider, no matter the size of door. The super-slim, one-piece interlock is fabricated with no need for caps which adds a touch of finesse to the overall look of the aluminium sliding door.

Aluminium Sliding Doors Vs Lift and Slide Doors:

Renovating your home is a big deal, to determine the best sliding aluminium patio door system for you, consider the specific needs of your space and your budget. Both lift & slide and sliding doors have unique advantages and considerations. Understanding the lift and slide door mechanism and the differences between the two options is essential when choosing the right option for your home or business.

Lift and slide doors provide better airtightness and insulation than sliding doors, the panel tightly seals against the frame when the lift and slide door is lowered and locked, which helps to prevent heat or cool air from escaping. Sliding doors, while still providing a decent seal, may not offer the same airtightness and insulation as lift and slide doors.

Aluminium lift and slide doors are the best option if you have a wide expanse or are looking to add floor-to-ceiling glass panels. They have a special mechanism that makes it easy to move panels that can weigh up to several hundred kilograms. In comparison, aluminium sliding doors are often better suited for thinner, smaller, less weighty panels.

Lift and slide doors offer effortless operation, superior insulation, and the ability to accommodate larger and heavier panels. Sliding doors, on the other hand, provide simplicity and affordability and are better suited for smaller openings.

The Lift and slide doors excel in sound insulation, making them an excellent choice for areas with high noise levels (if you live on or near a busy road or airport, they are the best contender), as the strong seal is designed to eliminate outside noise penetration. Although sliding doors provide some sound insulation, they might not be quite as good at isolating noise as a lift and slide variant.

When deciding between lift and slide doors and sliding doors, you will need to take cost into consideration. Lift and slide doors are typically more expensive because of their enhanced features and durability. Sliding doors on the other hand are simpler in design and are generally more affordable.
